Alright guys. If you remember, I’m working on an Eowyn cosplay for Jubilee, my 8-year old. After a lot of research and good advice, I think I’ve decided on a stitch and a yarn I want to use for my chainmail. I was considering a stockinette variation for a sort of scaly pattern, but, really, I prefer a 4-in-1 pattern, so I wanted to find something with a bit more rounded, connected shape.
My bestie suggested a honeycomb brioche stitch. It took me a while to get the hang of, I kept having to restart the first few rows, but once I figured it out, I really liked the overall look.
I also found some ugly cotton yarn that’s not fuzzy, so I think it’ll look better when I get around to painting it.
I have about 1/8th done so far, and I’m getting faster with every row. I don’t want to show you guys yet, because I want it to be a surprise when it’s all put together (and also because I have a few screw ups that don’t matter much because they are going to be under Jubilee’s armpit, but detract from the overall awesomeness when looking straight on). So, if I don’t update for a while, it’s because I’m knitting instead of blogging.
I think it’s going to work really well!
